SpringFest 2018
This was the first concert I coordinated without extra assistance. During FallFest 2017 I had the previous President of Clarkson Union Board (CUB) help out a lot, but this one I only had the assistance of the rest of my team. We had been having problems with attendance over the last few years, so I sent out a survey to the campus to see what they wanted to listen to. The campus had a pretty strong preference towards rap, so that’s what I went with. Our headliner was Waka Flocka Flame with Bassjackers opening, and they certainly drew a crowd. Our biggest issue was getting people through security fast enough, which I think is a good problem to have. We had a number of rumors about Waka not being able to make it (he was performing in Moscow the night before, and people thought he would mistake Potsdam, NY for Potsdam, Germany), but he showed up and put on a great show. We definitely learned a lot from that show, both in what we did well and what we can work on for next year. For example, we really don’t need to be there at 6am if the artists don’t show up until 6pm (usually they’re in the arena around 12pm for a sound check). It was a great experience, and I’m excited to see what next year brings!
